Summary

À Point Events is an event agency approachable by anyone and for every budget. Unlike other event agencies À Point Events targets on working individuals that do not have time to organize their own events.

Background

Amélie always worked at event agencies as Maison Rouge and Mise En Place, where she gained a lot of experience in the event business. While working for those agencies, Amélie was approached during her work by several individuals asking her to host their events. Amélie then started thinking about starting her own event agency and in September 2015 she made the decision and started À Point Events. Because an event agency doesn’t need to invest a lot her starting cost was very low. Her parents financed the starting capital the company needed because they saw it as an investment in the future.

Mission

Hosting events for everyone and for every budget.

Vision

Changing the image of expensive event agencies and making the event business approachable for everyone.

Values

À Point Events stands for accessibility, transparency and open communication.

Business Model

À Point Events started from the business concept of event agencies but made this more accessible for individuals. Most of the event agencies target company events and other large events. The cost of those agencies is often very high and not stated on their website, this scares a lot of private individuals thinking about organizing a small event. Amélie clearly states her price on her website so individuals can see if this is their budget. Also À Point Events doesn’t have a starting cost where other event agencies sometimes charge €750.

À Point Events charges the hours for organizing the event as well as the hours they work on the event. À Point Events has its own trained staff with a lot of experience in the event business. On all on the incoming bills of the event, À Point Events charges a small commission, after that the client will receive one bill with everything included.

Growth

The week the company was founded, they already had an event and the three following months they hosted seven large events. Amélie wants to grow but also wants to guarantee quality so she has a limit on the amount of events each month.

Customers

À Point Events target the working individuals that don’t have time to organize an event but also don’t want to spend huge amounts of money for the event. Amélie hosts small private events but large company events are also possible.

Competitors

Of course there’s a lot of competition in the event business but most event agencies target large events for companies. There’s only one other event agency that also targets the working individuals, this agency started in December 2015, three months after À Point Events was founded.

Conclusion

An opportunity for À Point Events is that still a lot of people are afraid to approach an event agency because of the high prices. Amélie hopes to attract these people with her company, she knows there’s a huge market for events, especially for the working individuals. A thread for À Point Events could be that people would keep thinking that hiring an event agency always will be very expensive.

When starting her business Amélie didn’t knew the paperwork would be that difficult and complicated but with some help from her parents she managed to get trough this paperwork. Amélie wants to gain recognition with À Point Events and become a qualitative player in the event business.

The most important advice Amélie has for starting entrepreneurs is the following:

  • Don’t think too small.

  • Keep on going despite setbacks that might occur.
